Hello! Welcome back. As we continue to do our best to keep it together during these unusual times, it seems a good a time as any to focus on joy, faith, gratitude, and inspiration.
One entertaining exercise for me is to develop a space from what might otherwise be considered the most random of objects. No, this month's Inspiration is Everywhere has nothing to do with toilet paper, DIY face masks, or the Tiger King (for goodness sake). On the contrary, the Purple Finch, New Hampshire's state bird, is a welcome and joyful sign of spring.
For this bathroom design, I wanted the space to feel cheerful, borderline whimsical, without looking childish.
The dynamic feather wallpaper with tones of raspberry, lime, and cobalt blue seemed like a great place to start. Herringbone hardwood flooring and antiqued French vanity act as sophisticated neutrals to balance the vibrant jewel tones. The simple iron sconces, partnered with an ornate mirror, is a combination that helps the space from feeling too serious. Gentle lines of this widespread faucet in brushed nickel are reminiscent of our delicate inspiration. The toilet, towel ring, and candle were selected for their simplicity so as not to overwhelm the room. Pops of pink, navy, and lush greens are represented in the accent rug, striped hand towel, houseplant, and rustic artwork.
